We had breakfast at the hotel and then walked to the station where we bought our tickets on the Mahtruska heading to Telavi. It cost 6 lari each, so about $3.70.we took off at 9:20am
The trip took about 2 hours, the driver was quite slow, it was hilly, but he was definitely very careful and did not speed at all!
We got dropped off near our hotel, saved us a walk!
We found our hotel easy (google maps was correct!) and we were able to check straight in.
The owner asked us if we wanted dinner for 30 lari for 2 people, about $16, who were we to say no!
After checking in we walked into town to head out to Alaverdi monastery. We caught a local mini bus out, it was well worth the visit, the church was built in the 11th century, it was definitely worth the visit! Especially with the snow capped mountains in the background!
